Sabriel is the Abhorsen, a necromancer who lays the dead to rest. Though born in the Old Kingdom, she has grown up in the magic-free kingdom of Ancelstierre. When her father goes missing, Sabriel must venture into the Old Kingdom to find him, and stop the encroaching darkness that threatens the land. Along the way, she encounters an ancient being the the form of a white cat, and an lost prince who ally themselves to her cause. First in the Abhorsen trilogy.
