Batman faces off against a string of villains, all commiting crimes outside their normal characters.  The Dark Knight must therefore find out who is behind the string of kidnappings, robberies, and violence, and what the puppetmaster's ultimate goal is.  Meanwhile, he faces a developing romance with Catwoman, and revisits a childhood friend . 

 

Red Flags: 

 

Violence, sometimes even from Batman towards the criminals he's tracking.  At one point Batman is severely injured, and needs to have surgery.  Sexual innuendo from Catwoman and Poison Ivy, and from Harley Quinn in the second volume.  Kidnapping and threat to a yound child.  The death of Batman's parents is revisited.
