Dixon, Chuck - Birds of Prey: Old Friends, New Enemies : 224 pages, © 2003
In the second collection of Birds of Prey, Oracle (formerly Batgirl) and Black Canary (of the JLA) test the bonds of their friendship through a series of adventures. New supervillians are introduced, and while old friends (Batman, Robin) make some cameo appearances. Equal time is given both to story and character development, creating a rich world.
Red Flags:
Comic book violence (but no deaths)--punching, kicking, knocking people unconcious. One character "checks in" on Barbara out of a sense of duty, which could be considered either charming or stalking, and thus vaguely unsettling.
